Today will mark the beginning of the 7th decade of skiing and snowboarding in the Rainbow Valley of Edmonton. Snow Valley Ski Club will open the doors and spin the lifts once again as of 9:00 am, November 12.
It’s been a difficult road getting here starting with how the 2019-20 season ended on an order from the Government on March 15th.

Since then we’ve been working diligently within guidelines from AHS and in conversation with other ski areas within the Canada West Ski Area Association. We even participated in the American National Ski Area Association, Travel Alberta and Explore Edmonton series of virtual meetings and talks all to find a way to re-open safely this fall.
And now, after making adjustments, installing new protocols such as mandatory masks or face coverings, training staff, getting more signs and, of course, having lots of hand sanitizer at the ready, we are open today.
While we have encountered unprecedented season pass sales – and consequently stopped selling for a few weeks – we will still be selling lift tickets to the public. The tickets will be made available 48h in advance and must be purchased online. Your ticket will be ready for pick up at our outdoor ticket window located on the east side of the lodge just before main doors.

Other changes include our outdoor concession we’re calling the High Horse Coffee Hut. This will feature, among other goodies, High Horse coffee roasted right here in little river city and exclusive provider of coffee beans to Snow Valley.
The stylish(!) fence around the East and North sides of the hill is to assist in access control as, again, due to the pandemic we must have a limited capacity at Snow Valley Ski Club to encourage social distancing. We are also scanning lift tickets and season passes at each lift to assist in contact tracing of anyone who rides at the hill. Another benefit to the organization is more accurate visitor statistics (how many people ride during the day, which lift, how many times, etc…).
Welcome back to skiing and snowboarding! Remember to wear your mask or face covering and hopefully we will get through this together.
Welcome back to Snow Valley!
