Snow Valley Net Park
Snow Valley Ski Club is pleased to announce plans to develop a Net Park, similar to the image in this article*, that will be ancillary to it’s existing Aerial Park. It would consist of approximately four net-enclosed play elements including a triple level cargo climber, a double level hex bouncer, a crochet net play space, and parallel ziplines that connect the Net Park to the Aerial Park. The design aesthetic is intended to match that of the Aerial Park.
While the Aerial Park offers recreational opportunities to families, groups and individuals, there is a minimum height restriction for participation that limits access to many children under the age of six. There are also those who cannot comfortably experience the Aerial Park because of fear of heights. The proposed Net Park will provide an adventurous elevated experience for all ages with no age or height restrictions and without the element of fear. As the facility is entirely enclosed in netting, there is no harness equipment required.
Snow Valley’s objective is to maximize recreational opportunities for all people at our facility and encourage adventurous outdoor play at any age. This facility would help to make the facility even more recreationally inclusive to all.
This project aligns with the recreational and wellness-based elements of the City of Edmonton’s Vision and Strategic Plan by providing an accessible facility that will encourage healthy and active living as well as provide a connection to nature.
The play area will be located in a decommissioned campsite area directly to the north of the Aerial Park. Its footprint will measure approximately 30 meters by 40 meters and no tree removals will be required. If project approval is granted with enough lead time, installation will take place over two weeks in April, 2026.
Snow Valley is working closely with the City of Edmonton’s Community & Recreation Facilities department towards receiving final project approval for this Net Park.
