If you have any questions that aren't answered below, please contact us by phone at 780-434-3991 or by email at aerialpark@snowvalley.ca
How do I get to Snow Valley Aerial Park?
Our address is 13204 Rainbow Valley Road. We are located on 119 Street just off the Whitemud Freeway. Take the 119 street exit off the Whitemud Freeway and turn south. Turn right (west) at the traffic lights 300m ahead where there is a wooden sign that says "Whitemud Park". Follow the road down the hill and under the Freeway overpass that will lead you to our parking lot.
Is the Aerial Park for kids or adults?
Our Aerial Park is for everyone! From the timid to the ninja warrior, there is something here for all ages who MUST meet our minimum height requirement (minimum height 125 centimeters or 4 foot 1 inch tall) and maximum waist (maximum 150 centimeter or 59 inch waist) restrictions. Kids under 140cm WILL struggle on several elements on the upper course.
Do I need to sign a waiver before going on the tower?
Nope! No waiver is required. You are expected to read the Notice To All Users Of The Premises and Facilities posted online and on-site prior to climbing.
How athletic do you have to be?
Our Aerial Park is “challenge-by-choice” which allows you to choose your own difficulty! With over 100 different games, there is something for everyone. There are many stairs and reaching overhead is required to use our smart belay system.
Do I have to book online?
YES! ALL reservations MUST be made in advance. Make sure to book early as many of our weekend days sell out before we even open for the day. We strongly recommend booking online, but will accept bookings over the phone.
Beginning in 2024, we will be introduce a 'Walk Up' fee of $10 per ticket. Please book online and avoid the fee.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require a minimum 24 hours’ notice to cancel or change your reservation time. If you wish to cancel, we do not issue refunds; instead you will receive a credit to use anytime at Snow Valley including at Whitemud Creek Mining Co., Target & Mini Golf, Guest Services, Creekside Eats, and even our Winter Operations.
What happens if it is raining?
The tower is open rain or shine! There is no additional risk to climbing while it's raining. However, if there is a heavy downpour, thunder/lightning, or heavy winds, we will evacuate the tower. We will bring you to a safe location where you will wait for 30 minutes. If the storm has not passed by that point, we will issue a rain check for you to return at another time that season.
Can I participate if I am pregnant?
No. The risk is too high. You also cannot be a chaperone. The chaperone must be able to wear a harness and follow the group through the obstacles to assist in hard to reach areas.
Do you have options for people with disabilities?
For wheelchair users, the tower is unfortunately not accessible. There is a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk that leads to the tower base and spectator area.
For many other needs, we have a highly adaptable team and have some resources and equipment on-hand to make the Aerial Park as inclusive as possible. Please give us a call at 780-434-3991 to see if we can meet your needs. We would love to create a great experience for you, and will do everything we can within the contraints of the tower design!
Do I need to bring a harness, helmet, or rock climbing shoes?
No. Our tower design and safety systems/procedures require our own specific equipment for safe usage. Helmets are not required on our tower. This is one reason why we ask you to remove everything from your pockets (to prevent the possibility of objects falling from above). No special footwear is required beyond a crosstrainer, runner or casual closed-toe shoe that fits snug and comfortable.
How does the chaperoning work? What else do I need to know about supervising my kids?
If your children/grandchildren are over 140cm (55in), they do not need to be accompanied on the tower. If, however, any of them are under 140cm, they need to be accompanied by someone who is at least 14 years-old and over 140cm. This individual will need to stay with the shorter child(ren) for the duration of the climb.
Each chaperone may supervise up to 3 children, as long as the whole group stays together as they climb around the tower.
There is no childcare facility onsite. If you need to supervise children on the ground who are too small to climb and if it is not possible for you to find another adult to help, we can provide a Climbing Buddy to accompany your children on the tower while you stay with the others on the ground. Please call well in advance to inquire about availability and pricing.
We now feature two climbing structures located just North of the tower and two boulders behind the Rainbow Valley Chalet for children who either cannot or do not want to go on the tower. There are several walking paths departing from our parking lot that you can explore.
Do I have to go through ground school again if I have been there before?
Yes you do.
What happens if I need to take a break, get some water, or go to the washroom?
You can drink water on the ground level with your harness on as long as you stay within the fenced area. If you have to use the bathroom, just let a Guide know. They’ll help you get out of your harness and when you return, they’ll help you get back in and up climbing. This also applies to parents who are escorting children to the washroom. To maximize your time on the tower, we recommend visiting the bathroom before your start time, as your climbing end time does not change if you are off the tower.
What happens if I fall?
Our harness and lanyard system will only let you fall a short distance before catching you. Once you catch your breath, you can get back onto the element yourself or one of our well-trained Guides can assist you if you’re having difficulty. If required, we’ll send a simple pulley system out to you and walk you through each step to get you back up and climbing.
What happens if I get hurt?
While we work hard to minimize the risk to you at the Aerial Park, there is some inherent risk in participating. All of our Guides are certified in First Aid and have gone through training to ensure that we provide the best service we can in case of an injury. If you are hurt on the tower but able to walk, notify a Guide either on the tower or the ground. We will provide first aid. If you are hurt while on an element, call for help and our Guides will lower you to the ground where we can continue first aid and ensure you receive additional assistance, if needed.
We hope this helped! Again, if you have any questions that aren't answered below, please contact us by phone at 780-434-3991 or by email at aerialpark@snowvalley.ca
