Green Tips

Snow Valley and the City of Edmonton believe that treating our planet properly will benefit us all. That's why Snow Valley and The City of Edmonton have teamed up to bring weekly greent tips to help you on the slopes and at home! Stay tuned each week to this page for a new green tip from The City of Edmonton!

This week's Green Tip:

  • Forget throwing your laundry in a dryer! Hang your clothes to dry in a ventilated area. Your home will like the humidity, your clothes will like the indirect heat and you will enjoy energy-savings!

  • Previous Green Tips:

  • Be Idle Free! If someone picks you up from the hill, make sure they don't idle while waiting for you. A minute or less is best when it's warmer than 10°C outside.

  • After a day on the slopes, you want to avoid feeling chilled. Change into clean, warm clothes as soon as possible, instead of turning up the heat, layer on warm sweaters!

  • You can still compost in the winter! If you want to start composting, the City of Edmonton will help you out. This would be a great time of year to get ready to start your compost pile in the spring.

  • Recycle or donate used equipment. You can make some nifty artwork or furniture with old equipment, or you can donate your old equipment to places that take in used sporting goods to make sure someone else can use them.

  • Use public transit or carpool to get to the slopes. Weekends & holidays you can hop on ETS bus #599 to get directly to Snow Valley from Century Park. AND the bus will be running every day from during School Holiday Break.

  • If buying new gear and skiwear, find out if the company is making an effort to be sustainable, what the equipment is made out of and where that material comes from.

    Think Recycle

Snow Valley has partnered with Think Recycle this year as part of a recycling program that allows us to help the environment. We are accepting used print cartridges, cell phones and digital cameras. PLUS, for every 24 products Snow Valley collects, Think Recycle will plant one tree on our behalf with Tree Canada.
