Never. More often than not, you’ll get a “Windchill Advisory” or something that most Edmontonians would react with a “Mmm hmmm” or “I guess I’ll wear a toque”. “Extreme Cold Warning” is rare especially with a lead line of “Multi day episode of very cold wind chills continue”.
If you are outside watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
In fact, the average high for this time of year is -7C and the average low is -16. The weather station at Edmonton International Airport recorded -33.5 on Christmas Day and -33.8 on Boxing Day…the coldest December 25th and 26th between 1999 and 2017. We won’t hit that today….but it’s close!
Today is our ALL DAY Food Bank Friday and Spring Break Camps will run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then the 2016-17 season comes to a close Wednesday, March 29 at 5:00 pm.
Thank you to all who came to enjoy all that we can provide: lifts, rentals, lessons, sessions, poutine, hot chocolate and most of all: FUN! We like to say we “Make Winter Fun”, when actually, YOU make winter fun.
Thank you and see you at Snow Valley Aerial Park on May 20 or sometime during the summer!
Snow Valley Ski Club is proceeding with building Edmonton’s first Aerial Park, scheduled to open late Spring 2017.
Designed and built by KristallTurm, the climbing structure will be as high as the surrounding trees, have a diameter of approximately 35 meters and feature the latest safety system in the industry. Over 100 games or challenges on three separate levels will push you to your limits of fun while enjoying the great outdoors in Rainbow Valley.
For more information about the project – visit our Aerial Park page.
It’s been a wonky fall: 10cm snow on October 18 and the next two weeks take us from Summer, to Fall to Winter! In the event that Snow Valley is unable to open in time for the start of your Lesson Program, we do have a plan:
If your lesson program starts on November 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 or 24:
You will be notified by e-mail of a cancellation due to lack of snow, a minimum 72h in advance.
If you are notified, you can book a make-up lesson in advance for any Sunday at 3p or Monday at 715p throughout the Fall, Winter or Spring Sessions. Booking will be on a first come first served basis.
Keep your fingers crossed (click on the image below for the most up to date weather)…
